This system might better be called augmentations or abilities - while many of the systems it covers are defensive in nature, some add other bonuses to a ship. Immediately upon this subsystem taking damage, the ship's owner must decide what defensive systems to power down - these cannot be made operational nor used until the subsystem is repaired to a power level able to support that defensive system once again. If a defensive system is powered down upon taking damage, it is paused in the state of reloading it was in upon powering down. Defenses are covered more fully in their own section below.
